In late January our U17 boys team traveled up to Sheffield to compete in a national competition, marking the first national outing for this age group.
Entering the event unseeded, the team were drawn into a challenging league alongside four highly experienced sides. Despite being at the youngest end of the age range, the players showed confidence, resilience and a willingness to take on older opposition throughout the weekend.
The effort and commitment on display were clear in every match. While the team were out-muscled on this occasion, recording one win from four matches, the experience gained was invaluable. This group will return next year 12 months older, stronger and wiser.
Following the final match, the Swim England Tournament Delegate spoke to the team, expressing how impressed he was with their conduct, determination and the way they continued to compete right up until the final whistle, reminding them how proud they should be of their performance. Well done boys!
